Hello, St. Albans neighbors,
With the upcoming vote on the Fire Levy this May 14th, I want to share why I’m supporting its continuation, and why this matters for each of us living here.
This isn’t a call for a new tax—this is about continuing the support that has been foundational for our fire department since the 1950s. The levy covers over a third of our fire department’s budget, enabling them to operate effectively and respond rapidly in emergencies.
One crucial aspect of this levy that affects us all directly is how it impacts our homeowner’s insurance. Thanks to our fire department’s high standards and an ISO 2 rating, we benefit from lower insurance premiums. This rating is significant—it reflects the efficiency and readiness of our fire services, which in turn influences how insurance companies assess our community’s risk level.
Continuing this levy means we maintain these benefits. It ensures that our fire department remains well-equipped and our firefighters are ready to respond within minutes. This quick response capability is not just about immediate safety—it also plays a crucial role in keeping our insurance costs manageable.
